San Gabriel District’s Troop 405 holds NRA Sanctioned Tournament

Spring time in Texas means that the scouts in Troop 405 from Georgetown are gearing up for their annual Shooting Sports Campout. This year on April 9th, 22 scouts participated in the NRA Basic Rifle Qualification Course and 17 scouts participated in a NRA Sanctioned 3-Position Rifle Tournament at the Shield Ranch in Coleman County.

 Results were as follows:

             Class 1 – Under 12

                        1st Place – Jack Saenz

                        2nd Place – Colby Johnson

                        3rd Place – Jackson Riggins

Class 2 – 13 to 15

                        1st Place – Alex Rook

                        2nd Place – Lucas Saenz

                        3rd Place – Brody Watson

Class 3 – 16 and up

                        1st Place – Crawford Shield

                        2nd Place – Sean Gingras

                        3rd Place – Brett Gindler


Overall Tournament winner was Jack Saenz. A surprise to all since he had never shot a rifle before this weekend! At the closing campfire boys were awarded with medals and Top Shot neckerchiefs.
